What cookies are
Cookies are small values stored by a browser and sent with later requests. Browser storage such as localStorage and IndexedDB remains on the device unless the user or application removes it. Surveyor uses these technologies for distinct purposes described below.
Essential authentication cookies
Supabase authentication cookies keep a signed-in user’s session available and allow the server to verify access. Security attributes such as secure transport, same-site handling, path, and expiration are applied according to environment and provider behaviour. Blocking them prevents account sign-in from working correctly.
Workspace preference
Surveyor stores the selected workspace in a secure, HTTP-only cookie so a member with access to multiple workspaces returns to the intended context. This cookie is operational and not used for advertising.
Survey and offline browser storage
Public surveys may store an unfinished response, resume token, submission identifier, revision, or offline queue on the device to support save-and-resume and weak-network collection. Completed queued submissions are removed after successful synchronisation according to application behaviour. Anyone sharing the device should consider its local-access risk.
Interactive demo storage
Public demo surveys save progress locally so a refresh can resume the example. Demo answers are not sent to Surveyor’s response database and are cleared when the demo completes or restarts.
Analytics and advertising
The current public site does not use advertising cookies and does not enable non-essential product analytics by default. If optional analytics is introduced, Surveyor will update this policy and provide consent or preference controls where required before setting non-essential cookies.
Managing storage
You can clear cookies and site data through browser settings. Doing so may sign you out, reset the selected workspace, remove unfinished demo or survey progress, and delete offline submissions that have not synchronised. Check the offline queue before clearing site data on a field device.
